Let’s continue with some images from the flood currently happening in Paris. I shared many images a couple of days ago in this post. I covered a lot of ground wandering around the city along the river. There are so many people staying close to the Seine to gawk at the water levels and all the debris floating along.
There wasn’t much rain once I arrived in the city, but the water level remains high and it’s hard to imagine how quickly it will recede. I feel for the businesses affected by this unusual circumstance.
I am so happy to report that they’re saying the water levels are decreasing. Every time I’ve approached the Seine this week a sense of doom and gloom has come over me. It’s been like being on set of a Hollywood end-of-the-world movie, only you don’t want to be there. Thank goodness nature has its way and is returning to balance now.
Notre Dame probably getting an uptick in visitors for the view of the river
You can usually see double that vined wall, which is beautiful in the Fall
That quai is usually passable on foot – a favorite spot for picnics
Perhaps the most iconic shot of the whole flood. It shows just how crazy high the water level is and how far out the quai goes. There were so many people crowded here taking photos.
Notre Dame looking like the beacon of hope that it is
Pont Bir Hakeim
Happened upon a wedding photoshoot (common here) at the Pont Bir Hakeim
I hope no one was parked down there!
Line 6 passing from Passy
Paris’s Statue of Liberty still standing strong
The Statue stands on an island that has benches and exercise equipment on it
A kid’s feeling about the flood: more water to splash in!
Finally receding a little, enough to expose some benches along the quais
Even the sun shining a bit brighter makes a difference on the outlook of the city
