I still remember the Pont des Arts before its fencing got taken over by the romantics of the world. Even this shot taken in 2011 shows how much space there was to profess your love to another. It’s even a bit ironic now seeing this message on here. She brought love to Paris, and then everyone else followed and latched on to the idea of putting up the locks!

I guess everyone has an opinion on the locks…for me I’m all for it as long as it’s contained to that bridge. What’s disconcerting is the fact that visitors seem content to put a lock on any railing they find. That’s the only issue I have with it. 🙂
